PRIME MINISTER’S EMPLOYMENT GENERATION PROGRAMME (PMEGP)

In order to generate continuous and sustainable employment opportunities in Rural and Urban areas of the country, PMEGP is a credit linked subsidy programme launched on 15th August 2008 by merging the two erstwhile schemes called Prime Minister’s Rojgar Yojana (PMRY) and Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP).

DEEN DAYAL ANTYODAYA YOJANA – NRLM

Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India has launched National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) by restructuring Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY), effective from April1, 2013.

Key Features of NRLM
  • NRLM replaces SGSY w.e.f 1.4.2013
  • Universal Social Mobilisation.
  • ‘Participatory identification of the poor’
  • Promotion of Institutions of poor

Deendayal Antyoday Yojana-National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM)

The Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation has launched a National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM). This has replaced the existing SJSRY from the beginning of the 12th Five Year Plan. NULM would be target-oriented with specific focus on the primary issues pertaining to urban poverty such as skill up-gradation, entrepreneurship development and employment creation through wage employment and self-employment opportunities opened up by the emerging markets in urban areas.

To reduce poverty and vulnerability of the urban poor households by enabling them to access gainful self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities, resulting in an appreciable improvement in their livelihoods on a sustainable basis, through building strong grassroots level institutions of the poor. The mission would aim at providing shelters equipped with essential services to the urban homeless in a phased manner.

Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund Scheme

The Deptt. of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Govt. of India is implementing the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund Scheme (AHIDF), announced under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. The Central Govt. has announced fund of Rs 15,000/- crore as stimulus package for funding by scheduled banks for eligible projects set up by individual entrepreneurs, farmers producer organizations, private companies, MSMEs and section 8 companies for their investment for processing and value addition in animal husbandry sector. Under the scheme, credit facilities are to be made available for establishment of:

  • Dairy processing & value addition infrastructure
  • Meat processing & value addition infrastructure
  • Establishment of animal feed plant and
  • Breed improvement technology and breed multiplication farm.

Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY)

The scheme was launched on 8th April 2015. Under the scheme a loan of upto Rs. 50,000 is given under sub-scheme ‘Shishu’; between Rs. 50,000 to 5.0 Lakhs under sub-scheme ‘Kishore’; and between 5.0 Lakhs to 10.0 Lakhs under sub-scheme ‘Tarun’. Loans taken do not require collaterals. These measures are aimed at increasing the confidence of young, educated or skilled workers who would now be able to aspire to become first generation entrepreneurs; existing small businesses, too, will be able to expand their activates.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana ( PMAY )

The Mission will be implemented during 2015-2022 and will provide central assistance to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and other implementing agencies through States/UTs for:
  • In-situ Rehabilitation of existing slum dwellers using land as a resource through private participation 
  • Credit Linked Subsidy 
  • Affordable Housing in Partnership 
  • Subsidy for Beneficiary-led individual house construction/enhancement. 
  • Credit linked subsidy component will be implemented as a Central Sector Scheme while other three components will be implemented as Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS).

Stand-Up India (SUI)

Government of India launched the Stand Up India scheme on 5th April, 2016. The Scheme facilitates bank loans between Rs.10 lakh and Rs.1 crore to at least one Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe borrower and at least one Woman borrower per bank branch for setting up Greenfield enterprises. This enterprise may be in manufacturing, services or the trading sector. The scheme which is being implemented through all Scheduled Commercial Banks is to benefit at least 2.5 lakh borrowers. The scheme is operational and the loan is being extended through Scheduled Commercial Banks across the country.

Stand Up India scheme caters to promoting entrepreneurship amongst women, SC & ST category i.e. those sections of the population facing significant hurdles due to lack of advice/mentor ship as well as inadequate and delayed credit. The scheme intends to leverage the institutional credit structure to reach out to these undeserved sectors of the population in starting Greenfield enterprises. It caters to both ready and trainee borrowers.

To extend collateral free coverage, Government of India has set up the Credit Guarantee Fund for Stand up India (CGFSI). Apart from providing credit facility, Stand up India Scheme also envisages extending hand-holding support to the potential borrowers. It provides for convergence with Central/State Government schemes. Applications under the scheme can also be made online on the dedicated Stand up India portal
